Another amazing writing piece from 1994 by Laura Leteges called “Eyroun.” An unpublished one. (Laura, if you don’t know, is one of the deceased Elders of Sacred Pentagraph – Ancient Order of Bell, Book & Candle)

In this document, Laura talks about the mysterious “Egg.” The ancient symbol! Laura says, “… the basic symbolism of the egg as the Creative source of Life and Rebirth remain the same. Among the Cosmic symbols from antiquity none is more common than that of the Egg.”

I agree with Lady Laura on this – as we know, in our tradition, we have the symbolism of the “Talking Stone” which is also known at the “Druid Egg” that is a prime symbolic and serpent symbol of the tradition from Sybil Leek.

Also, one of the early methods of creating the magic circle for a Sabbat — when you cast the third circle was known as creating the Cosmic Egg – the circle itself being seen as an egg.
Lady Laura in this case also mentions this “Druid Egg” in this writing too. She says:

“But to the Druid it was the serpents egg that was sacred and they had many superstitions concerning the power and magic of the serpent’s, or adders egg.”

The egg teaches there is no beginning or ending to life. It seems to be found the world over in many cosmologies and religious stories of many kinds – so many find symbolism in occult literature and religious texts.

Think of the aura of the body — how is it even usually described? The Auric Egg – us being enclosed within an egg shaped aura – even more egg symbolism!

Ask yourself, beyond Aristotle’s chicken and the egg debate, how many egg references in occult literature can you find? And what do they symbolize in each instance?
