De Rerum Occulta – Spellcasting in the old New Orleans Tradition

Thinking of Tarostar’s writings, teachings and impact today before the upcoming Wolf Moon Esbat.

This is an old binder of Tarostar’s that he had and I decided to clean it up a bit, and add to it some page protectors and include a few manuscripts copies of some of his unpublished work, plus one of his published works. The first four are not in print, the last one (fifth) was a best-selling and well loved book by Tarostar — I’ve heard from people around the world in how much they enjoyed the last one of his over the years!

The first one in is:

Spiritual Novena Candles — which provides the methods of use of 7-Day Novena & speciality figure spell-candles — along with the individual Spell and Prayers that are used to employ each candle. Also included are Saint Candles including the favorites of Saint Expedite (San Expedito), San Antonio de Padua, San Cipriano and many more.

For example; think of the reversible candles that are green, white or red on top and black on the bottom — each of those have their own individual spells, along with the ones that are red on the inside and covered black on the outside.

The second is:

The Occult Shop Spellbook — this one by Tarostar includes spell kits from the famous Mama Phebie of old New Orleans of the 1800s. (Her name, I’ve seen some spell as Mama Phemie as well) Famous in the Mississippi Delta Area, Tarostar said that she lived between 1880-1949. Her name was Phebie Laetitia Lareaux. Her husband known as “Cajun Bill” and her daughter who helped her’s name was Clair. This book includes her methods into what might call “spell-kits” today — how to put them together.

The Third & Fourth Ones

Mama Phebie’s Advice to the Love Lorn & Mama Phebie’s Charms, Amulets & Talismans — Mama Phebie’s Great-Grand-Daughter showed Tarostar Mama Phebie’s notebooks and writings on her spells & techniques in 1980 and gave permission for Tarostar to use them in preserving the techniques.

Fifth One

The Witch’s Formulary & Spellbook — this one was in print for public purchase since the early 1980s. It represents the formula that he & Charmaine Dey used in their old famous Bell, Book & Candle Occult Shop that was located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
